The billionaire philanthropist opened up about his divorce from his wife of 27 years, Melinda, during an “off-the-record” question-and-answer session at the summer camp for the rich in Sun Valley, Idaho, last week.
“He admitted he screwed up,” one of the attendees told The Post. “He basically meant that [the divorce] was his fault.”
The source added: “He seemed a bit emotional about it. He was on the verge of tears.”

During the question-and-answer session hosted by CNBC’s Becky Quick, Gates reportedly did not cite “having an affair” as a reason for the split.
Gates, 65, and his former wife, Melinda, announced their divorce in May. In the divorce filing, Melinda said the marriage was “irretrievably broken down.” He has since come under scrutiny by Microsoft’s board of directors over allegations of extramarital affairs. The couple’s three children are ‘very angry’ at their father’s behaviour, according to a source.
